Marion “Sweetie” Forbes is the kind of person who will certainly “tell it like it is.” A Chicago native, her Chi-town charm is refreshing and in your face with a realness that entertains and delights. The transparency of her life and thoughts will take you on a journey unlike any other and promises not to disappoint. Her message is one of perseverance, hope, love, faith and determination. Sprinkle in lots of life experiences, witty conversation and some good no-nonsense facts and you have the makings of a diva delivering a message in grand fashion.
Marion got her start singing gospel music in church and school choirs. She also performed R&B in local talent shows throughout the Chicago area. This notoriety led to her being chosen as the lead singer of an all- girls group called Serenade with Phoenix Entertainment for five years before pursuing a solo career. Her many accomplishments include performances at the Regal Theatre, the legendary Cotton Club, the DuSable Museum and Milt Trenier’s alongside Bernie Mac.
Since relocating to Dallas in 2006, Marion has continued to hone her chops, singing for St. Phillips School and various social events. She has even gone viral several times via the internet making the semi-finals of national competitions called Famecast where she placed in the top 25, and the top 30 out of over 1200 entries with AARP’s Boomer Superstar Competition which was in partnership with American Idol Live 2014.
Marion has enhanced lives through hair care and image consulting as a Master Stylist for more than 32 years both in Chicago and Dallas. She has been a successful entrepreneur for 27 years and currently owns Forbes Co. Hair Salon in McKinney, Texas.
Marion is an active member of the Amazing Church of McKinney where she serves on the Praise and Worship Team.
Marion has been married to Will Forbes for 22 years and has three children, Keithia, Will and Mari.
